Different flavors of bad
CS is too much fluff. Too much setting the stage for very little payoff. You can succinctly say what the important parts of the main story in CS are for every game, and yet a lot of the time you do pointless shit as part of it's main story.
Calvard has in essence the same problem but engineered in the complete opposite way.
After Kuro 1 there is very little main story or moments that continue character arcs for a smaller cast. Too much time doing bullshit 4spgs or fucking around in the gartens. I resonated more with the story of Calvard and like more, but the simple fact is the story has moved at a snail's pace since Kuro 1 and there is very little of it. Both stories, the important parts, get developed poorly, but both have enjoyable moments. But I feel that CS and Calvard suffer a lot from trying to tell its own story while also moving on the overarching story of the series.
