this is the fundamental problem with calvard imo
they completely forgot the surface layer of the story
kiseki has always been about the relationship between the mystical and the physical "real" world, people using mystical ancient magic to achieve physical real world aims and vice versa. dieter wants to demiourgos to make sure crossbell can't ever be threatened again, richard wants the aureole to make sure liberl can never be invaded again, osborne creates strife and chaos all across the physical world to manifest the curse so he can destroy it
calvard has that mystical layer to it but theres never really any real world tangible goal. the closest maybe you get is auguste wanting to reset the timeline to restore his revolutionary ideals but he never actually says what those and unless you know who robespierre is you'd probably have no fucking idea what he means. otherwise its just people using ancient mystical things for esoteric purposes. calvard just doesnt feel like a place people live in because falcom forgot about the human layer of it all.
