Most devs nowadays do the bare minimum because the quality standards have fallen so low that people have 0 self respect and buy all the worse garbage they see. Worse yet, they praise it to high heaven as the best game ever. Cringe. That's why you don't see more high quality games. The effort isn't worth it.
