That's what's always irked me about DB fanfics. They take Goku’s love for fighting and slap it onto every Saiyan character like it’s part of their DNA. Suddenly, every Saiyan OC is a “battle maniac” who lives to fight and train and yell about getting stronger and boom, now every interaction is just Goku talking to his own clones.
From what we're shown in canon:
>Vegeta
Prideful, calculating, wants to be the best to beat Goku, not because he loves fighting in a vacuum. His relationship with combat is personal, not spiritual.
>Broly (Super)
Dude’s a trauma-ridden mess who fights because he has to, not because he loves it. The moment he gets peace, he wants to chill with animals. A Saiyan hippie with trauma rage.
>Raditz
A coward who never improved himself and trained to overcome his tail weakness that even Goku eventually did. Wasn’t looking for a fight, was just bullying people weaker than himself and started begging for his life when the bullied fought back. Also, he's one of the few Saiyans who's afraid of dying.
>Nappa
Arrogant soldier. Treats fights like a form of dominance and ego-stroking, not as sacred tests of strength.
Even Bardock, before Minus, wasn’t fighting for fun. He was a cold mercenary who got dragged into caring about something. There’s almost no Saiyan besides Goku who fights purely for the sake of fighting. In my AU fanfic that I'm developing, I even have a Saiyan who's raised on Namek and he doesn't fight because he's a battle junkie, and to him, training is just a means to an end to protect. Otherwise, he mostly wants to be left alone and isn't really interested in tagging along with Goku and the others.
