Here's the catch. You die in some random fuck off corner in the maze that is the caves, the run back to pick up your kit in that maze is going to be total shit that will likely see you dead before you even get back to the support weapon. Which is why having a backup support weapon + backpack is better than nothing. Besides the point that just having a spare supply backpack to call in is like a longer cooldown resupply.
