Talk to Minthara about the Grove's location. She's convinced you're a True Soul who went undercover and orders you to go back. Do a Long Rest there and you should see the preparations from the Tieflings to protect it. (This also starts a mini-quest about finding Doni!) Then Talk to Zevlor, blow the big horn near the gate, Minthara shows up with the Goblins and orders you to open the gate. This is the moment where you can reveal that she just walked into your trap.

The back symbols event is related to Raphael in the Act2. You just have to have Astarion in the party one of the two times you bump into him there (the Last Light Inn (first visit) or The Mausoleum). Check the attached pic if you just want to see them. His Approval has nothing to do with this, he was always Neutral towards me as well.

Imagine my face when I found out Karlach only likes me 6 points better than Wyll! And I didn't neglect either, moreover, Karlach got like 20% more screen time.
