That's another thing that bothers me about 2.7's story, since we're on the subject. How much agency and initiative is stripped from rover. Rover has to be told what to do at every moment in the story. They couldn't even be allowed to resist the threnodian's mind games on their own like augusta did. Galbrena had to enter their mind and talk them out of it. Even the very end of the story had to thrown in a little dog walk moment for rover where alto tells rover to recruit galbrena into the black shores.
