all the servers for retail are in Japan so it's something to do with the way packets are traveling from Square's servers to you. probably some ISP level thing. you could try a VPN or something? idk
and that's assuming it's a network thing and not a hardware thing. right now i'm trying to fix the issue of teh game recognizing every single button on my controller except left d-pad (the gamepad config recognizes it but not ingame). i figured Steam input would help but for some reason even with the overlay off it causes the game to stutter every 3-5 seconds so now i have to use Joy2Key to bind left dpad to my left arrow button on my keyboard. which is retarded. 24 hours into my free trial and 90% of it has been spent troubleshooting japanese PC port jank.
