He's pretty strong as a mid-range/backliner. He doesn't do so hot when pressured, but he fares better than Assault Endeavor in that regard because he has more tools to keep an attacker off of him (SA stab can interrupt non-armored moves, gamma can lock someone down by either knocking them down repeatedly or forcing them to roll.)
He crumbles in 2v1s, though, and he can't outrun the more mobile characters.
He also gets hard countered by quite a few characters. Kendo and Strike Kiri can easily block his entire kit, Compress can block most of his projectiles, any grab character will mess him up because he's frequently airborne and grabs go through his gamma's armor, Ibara can severely hurt him, Cementoss can make his own shelters from the AoEs, etc.
Meanwhile Rapid Deku doesn't really have any significant counters except, ironically, YfO. None of Rapid Deku's moves are armored except his grounded alpha, so YfO's ranged staggering/soft knockdown moves can interrupt all of them.
