i did not play it but from watching gameplay, the zombie amount is very low and non threatening by my standards. one of zomboid's strengths is the huge hordes and there hasn't been a replacement for that specific aspect. because the zombies are easy i got the feeling that loot was too abundant, kind of like if you were playing Rust or Unturned in singleplayer, you hit endgame instantly.
