NTA, but if you care about any of the "main" characters i.e. little asian brat then you're either one of the people who created the story or convinced yourself these characters have enough weight to "connect" with them.
>4’s the only one that is character driven
Riight, for the large portion of the game and even now I can't remember that fat horadrim's name or the brat's for that matter. Fuck, outside of Astaroth, Lilith and Andariel I can't even recall any bosses from the campaign. I've played with different people and a couple friends as well since launch and all of them share the same sentiment when the topic of plot resurfaced for some reason.
You'll say it's anectodal evidence, but it's a fact that the story is run off the mill milquetoast fest. I didn't play a lot of D3 but I finished the story and let me tell you, WoW team or not, you had distinctive characters there (on both sides btw). The story had high and low points and it felt like a complete journey at the end. Later the expansion added another chapter to it and it too was satisfying. Overall from plot and character perspective Diablo 3 is and will be better than D4.
