USUM and LGPE were the last truly great Pokemon games, in my opinion.
USUM was pretty much perfect in terms of content, and LGPE, while a bit less content-packed, had the best visual presentation and overall atmosphere in any Pokemon game.
I've still had fun with some of the more recent Pokemon games like SwSh and PLA, but SV was disappointing and Z-A not being turn-based is even more disappointing.
I hope that future games are better than Gen 9, but I'm starting to think that MAYBE Pokemon Champions might be the correct way for us old-school fans going forward. Champions will be turn-based and it will have all the Megas, as well as all the other battle gimmicks like Dynamax, Tera and Z-Moves. Sounds like a win-win game, especially since I heard that it might have a Battle Frontier-like mode.
