I'd argue that it's worse these days because any retard can throw a script through chatGPT and get something out that reads like English, even if it's complete gibberish. I've run into a number of EOPs who get indignant when you tell them that the lines are wrong, because they distort the narrative in their head to make sense out of gibberish. Reminds me of the guy I saw years ago who was convinced that MGS2's lalilulelo was an anti-Japanese shibboleth of some kind, and not, you know, the 五十音 equivalent of "ABC". They invent fantasies in their heads to make sense of fractured falsehoods, even today you'll still find people arguing that Kojimbo knows English but he's just too shy to speak it.
