I looked into this and Germans mostly ate American food from charity for a long time after WW2, especially those who were under Soviet rule. Even after things got better, they would buy things like Hershys chocolate because it was nostalgic for them. However, younger Germans were brainwashed into hating America, and they're particularly hateful of American food because their parents like it.
