>We are to first and foremost worry only about our salvation
And it came to pass, that the Lord Iēsous led a soul that had been drawn out of the abyss of Sheol unto the gate of the Æons. And as the soul was lifted upward through the firmament, behold, there came forth another, a shade that had burned in the fire of Gehenna, and he laid hold upon him, saying: Take me also, that I perish not in torment. But the soul that was saved was sore afraid, and he thrust the other away, casting him back into the smoke of Tartarus. Then laughed Iēsous with great laughter, and He spake unto the soul: Lo, thou hast failed the trial of the Pleroma, for thou hast chosen thine own ascent above the mercy of Barbelo. And He mocked him, saying: Behold this righteous one who saveth not his brother, but is zealous for his own crown! What is thy faith but dust, and what is thy salvation but a garment rent in twain? Then the powers of Yaldabaōth cried out from the lower æon, and the Archons rejoiced, saying: He is ours yet again, for compassion was not found in him. And Iēsous delivered him unto the abyss, and the soul was cast down among the rulers of chaos, even unto Saklas and Nebro, the great demons of blindness. And Judas, hearing these things, was astonied, and he said unto the Lord: Master, why dost Thou laugh when the righteous falleth? Iēsous answered and said: Because the truth is made manifest through the falling of many, and only they that bear the weight of another, even unto their own hurt, shall taste the incorruptibility of Autogenes. And He lifted His voice, saying: Whoso saveth himself alone shall be lost with the Archons, but whoso descendeth into the pit for his brother, even as I descend unto death, shall sit with Me in the Pleroma [...] and the thrones of the Æons shone with great light, but their names were not given unto men [...] and Judas bowed himself, trembling before the mystery. And the Lord said: Hide these things in thine heart, Judas, for not all the sons of men are able to bear them [...] yet in the fullness of the time, the veil shall be rent, and the hidden shall be revealed.
