Even in that anons argument, you're still doing things you don't enjoy to get to a place you do enjoy, ultimately just pursuing your own enjoyment as the terminal goal. He didn't even truly counter my premise. If you don't want to actually play a lot of chess there's no value in memorizing moves. Better to just pursue your passion authentically. I wouldn't think someone is dumb for not being good at chess either, hopefully Lumi isn't learning it for the wrong reasons.
