VShojo's model could work... as long as they are smart with spending, their job was just to find sponsors and make merch. The merch was all preorder so they wouldn't lose anything there and sponsorships are free to them. They literally only needed payroll and if they were just outsourcing merch design then they honestly didn't need many people, they just overspent like crazy. The people running it just had no fucking clue what they were doing and had an out of control spending habit.
It'd be interesting to see where the money actually went if it wasn't just embezzled, because honestly they could have been very low overhead.
