The problem with mmos is because there's a lack of player killing to keep the agents of chaos from trooning out. I can't see eternal bonding catboys be a thing if you could go out and kill furries when you're bored.

I think Valheim on it's first popularity boom worked better because they didn't push the limitations of the mechanics and engine to it's limits so it felt like a normal game despite being in the survival slop genre. I can understand why climbing in Mistlands and beeing swarmed nonstop by mooks in Ashlands combined with desync netcode turns people off the game real fast.
