To play devil's advocate, he was pushed into this by the streamers who often come up with a name for the viewers/fandom and tell you what emotes to use as their oshi mark branding etc. Occasionally it comes from the fanbase itself but these days the fans feel like there's an expectation for them to have a fanbase name. Personally I find the whole thing really weird, aside from vtubers (and idols?) few fanbases do this shit. Even for shit like Trekkies, Gene Roddenberry didn't go "okay if you like Star Trek you will call yourself a Trekkie and the Star Trek oshi mark is a star and a rocketship" or any shit like that
