I agree with the argument the Vtubing "spirit" but the rest is just cope.
The real reason why it's hard to "grow" EN vtubing is because the main audience of the US and to a smaller extent EU exist on WAY larger landmasses where logistical issues associated with all of the idol culture, concerts, merch, etc. are not only more expensive but also more difficult to facilitate.
Japanese fans can just jump on a train for an hour, maybe two and reach virtually any of the large venues, cities, stores, restaurants, etc. where they can have access to literally 99.999% of merch, collabs, concerts, etc.
This goes doubly for the EN talents who need to either rent 3D studios, build their own, or travel to Japan to record. That's why a good amount of ENs have decided to just live in Japan to make their activities easier.
