Kinda true, but it has a lot to do with how niche that market is. Audio shit has huge diminishing returns once it reaches certain price point.

Yeah, a lot of the popular mics today were designed 50+ years ago. The whole industry is heavily influenced by the Music industry for obvious reasons. Most people want that mic their favorite vocalist used, so it becomes a cycle of the same group of mics. Btw THE Streamer/podcaster mic (SM7B) came out in 1973. Michael Jackson used an SM7 to record Thriller.
