Can't blame you. Compared to whatever the fuck it is now, early /hlg/ seems like heaven. It wasn't perfect but at least there was some sort of moderation, you could even summon them with Luluposting. Nowadays if you dare ask why blatant troll and off-topic posts stay up you're the one that's going to get banned.
