I don't know how to explain my disappointment in finding out Leaflit's pride and joy is basically the same generic fantasy stuff as every other board game on the shelf at my TCG.

Seeing your post at least gave me some feeling of vindication, Anon. Without getting lost in the weeds on my own gamedev journey, I can sum it up pretty well.
There's a reason the developers of Deep Rock Galactic have a boardgame as a side trinket fans of the game can buy, and not the main bread and butter of the company.
