It's very possibly a spectrum and possibly not linear. Consciousness' first definition is awareness of life. But does it end there? Could knowledge, intuition etc. be entangled with consciousness somehow.. knowledge as the information you know might be stored and retrieved mechanically by the brain but it's experienced at runtime like a feeling, a knowing.. is that consciousness also?
