Public benches are for public (taxpayer) use. They're not for strung out homeless people to sleep on... or dump their trash on... or do drugs on... or piss and shit on. People don't want too many homeless in their community because it just causes too many other problems

Homeless tend to centralize in commerce areas usually because it's where people have money. Their drug use, violence, disease and sanitation issues become increasing problems in those areas until it starts to affect commerce. Law enforcement becomes more nessisary which costs more money if you don't want homeless sleeping in every apartment hallway and stairwell that's unlocked. They end up not going to shelters because most of them are addicts and shelters usually demand you have to have to stay clean. So the problem escalates and before you know it there's a shanty town, a hepatitis epidemic, your jails and hospitals are over capacity. It just easier and safer for everyone the homeless included if you stop them from centralizing. It's why these installations aren't everywhere in the city.

It's not. It's a classic case of NIMBY. The comic takes it to an extreme degree for comedic effect, but the principle is solid and applies the same whether you're talking about someone's actual home, or their community, or their local park, or local shopping center, etc. Leftists are happy to virtue signal about supporting homeless and illegal immigrants until those people invade THEIR personal space.
