please help me i am too embarrassed to ask /g/ (they always make fun of me). i know a lot of people here uses linux and this is why this thread is here today.
so a game i am trying to play isnt launching on proton on this specific update and the guy in picrel says he got it to work from removing all of the cosmetic mods from the games files. i am trying to figure out how to do this but i dont know how to find files on linux. according to the research ive done so far this is the path towards finding the files. i am lost at this point as there is no more help because this is a very unique problem that no one cares about aside from like 10 people on the planet. would anyone know which folders im supposed to go to to actually find a games files? so far ive tried just clicking on random folders and each one seems to open a folder into like 20 more folders then i click on one and theres another 15 folders to choose from. i am obviously never going to find the games files this way, theres just too many folders to pick from.

So are you just looking for where you installed the game? Was it through steam?

try .../SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/namecode/...

it has to be somewhere in your user directories
find $HOME -type d -name "steamapps"

the actual game should be installed under steamapps/common and you can also get to it in steam by right clicking the game and browse local files under manage

the folder you're in under steamapps/compatdata is the fake windows drive proton uses to run the game, and it has stuff like the game's save data and config files
