Many reasons. Can't get into school if you don't, for starters.

I think it has something to do with the recent admissions scandal backlash. You see, after many colleges were exposed for admitting students into their university based on favoritism and nepotism, it became clear that admissions were not unbiased, fair and economic. They were in fact unfair, skewed and heavily unproductive.

This led to some pretty heated backlash from the president, who then slashed funding to a lot of schools around the nation. And if that wasn't enough, he also tried to take legal action against the courts, claiming affirmative action was racially biased, and allowed too many diversity admissions into these colleges.

College admissions have always been biased and will probably continue to be biased. This isn't really news.

That's news, of course it's news. A journalist's job is a striving to make the significant relevant and interesting.

https://americanpressassociation.com/principles-of-journalism/

Their whole job is to turn meaningful information into digestible information. I mean, more students failing school is news, but not digestible. No one can sift through hours of documents on a Sunday morning. But a journalist can make that information useful for an audience.

Money is a social construct, its value is completely arbitrary it's just pieces of metal and paper
Art is also a social construct it is based on societal value it does not have an objective value
