Do you think our sense of identity is more influenced by internal beliefs or external perception?
Whemn you're young it's the latter but as you grow up it's the former

Identity is in the top of the hierarchy of beliefs. You can hear it in people's language.
>I am a Christian
>I am a communist
You can find the phrase
>what the thinker thinks the prover proves
In certain disciplines that study behavior. That simply means that people filter external perception to fit their beliefs. Using my examples above you get christians who filter every experience as god/jesus/satan has something to do with it. It rained: god blessed us. It rained and floods killed people: satan did it or god is angry.
On another level there are people who think they are unattractive so they don't interact with potential mates. They get no mate. The common phrase is
>self fulfilling prophecy
but it is a belief that is proving itself. Beliefs control your perception of the world.
