I just realized that while you’re supposed to use “an” in front of words with vowels, you use “a” in front of “one”, like “a one-hundred dollar bill”, but you otherwise use “an” in front of Os, like with “an only child”. . . What. . .

So the actual rule depends on the sound.
For example, Americans pronounce herb as erb, therefore they say "an herb" (an erb)
While in other English speaking countries they pronounce the h, and say "a herb".


So with one you pronounce it "wan" and since w isn't a vowel, you say "a one hundred"
