I finished 3 college courses today. What are the scientific implications of degrees being able to be completed in a couple of weeks?
Coursera and edX have been around for about a decade now. Anyway, the point of studying in college is to get a little diploma with your name that should be proof that your IQ is just around or slightly above the body temperature of a healthy pregant woman (96°F) and that you're obedient enough to sit through 4 years' worth of assigned tasks and are capable of going through basic learning material on a given subject. Knowledge is knowledge, and knowledge can easily be acquired from books, but the purpose of getting a college degree is really more of passing a test of patience than of speed.
