>Competitive or high-stakes gaming (like in multiplayer online games or eSports) can cause a constant state of emotional arousal, which triggers the release of stress hormones, especially cortisol.
>The constant adrenaline rush from tense gaming moments can increase mental exhaustion over time, contributing to chronic stress and diminishing your overall mental well-being.
>Chronic stress can directly affect your skin. High cortisol levels can impair the skin's ability to regenerate and repair itself. This can lead to acne, skin irritation, and increased signs of aging like wrinkles and fine lines. Stress also reduces blood flow to the skin, making it harder for nutrients and oxygen to reach skin cells.
Add on having responsibilities like job and uni and you're piling onto that stress which causes you to age rapidly. Competitive gaming will suck the youth out of your body. I did this while waging and could never recover from the damage that was done during this time.
Also the stimulation from gaming is akin to drugs and makes you forget about feelings of hunger/exhaustion/dehydration.
I specifically mentioned competitive gaming since there are some tangible stakes which are mainly multiple people's time.
