Sit on (anticipate) that pitch or at least read that it's not a fastball out of the hand. at the highest levels teams have scouting reports on pitchers down to the rpm of each pitch.

Not discrediting your theory, but a curveball avg speed in the league allows a batter roughly 0.5 seconds to respond and swing. Reading the pitcher and pitches are undoubtedly a factor in batter swing, but given the trajectory and batter swing time, MLB hitters have less than a half second to decide to swing and make contact. Home runs are a byproduct of super human skill and insane luck with a small amount of prediction skill. Baseball is a hell of a sport lmao
