I studied geology back in the day but dropped out in 2014 due to going bugfuck nuts, losing my scholarship, and nearly drinking myself to death. I've been getting nostalgic about it, does anyone know of any new interesting developments to read about?

This is bait, but I do, and basically all I'll find are crinoid, brachiopod, and coral fossils, and I spent too much time in paleo lab with those fuckers to get excited over them. Also the occasional pyrite or chalcopyrite sample but again nothing to be worth collecting.

where you live? Sometimes you can drive places which have more interesting things, I like to go on camping trips to find geodes and cool quartz

Ozark plateau. I've been into local geology for 16 years so I've seen most of it, still need to check out the diamond fields in Arkansas though.
And I'm still interested in recent research and developments if there are any geologist anons on here.

Shameless self bump. Do /sci/ anons really not care about learning about the planet they live on? Don't make me go to
reddit
, bros, please, anything but that.
