Wtf is wrong with astronomers? Are they actually crypto-polytheists? They make videos like this supposedly about a space rock but spend more time talking about mythology:

I get that naming planets after graeco-roman gods is an ancient tradition, but this seems odd, like they're way too into this, like they actually want us to learn about their gods more than about space geology.

>Wtf is wrong with astronomers?
They spend their lives pondering pace orbs the overwhelming majority of which has nothing to do with people, are not considered or even perceived by any people other than them, and don't affect the lives of any other people. They need to anthropomorphize their work somehow lest they go fucking bugmen insane.

Astronomy is like geography but it has physics.

For memory and perspectivist purposes, naming needs to be imaginative. Narratives weave details into a whole.

This applies not only to geological formations but physics. Carl Sagan's books are a good illustration of the latter. It's a tradition that has been carried over since the earliest astronomers.

Astronomers work in labs and publish papers, not make youtube videos for clicks and money. Here is what real astronomers do.
