If a nuclear explosion could be directed towards a target, what would be the output out of the barrel?
Assuming it's being fired in a vacuum.

heat (and various particles), projected outward based on the shape of the nozzle.

So visually, there wolud be the initial flash from the explosion, followed by a invisible wave of heat from the barrel toward the target?

There would be a wave of photons (i.e. an incredible, blinding light) emitted from the nozzle as well. All of the heat is carried on particles, basically, including photons.

Hot plasma. That gundam thing's fucking retarded. Ain't no way to contain a nuclear blast with something that small. Even if you could, neutrons are going straight through the barrel and causing instant death to the pilot. There are nuclear shaped charges, there's the casaba howitzer proposal. A better option is the Shaped Nuclear Accelerated Kinetic(SNAK) charge idea. Use a casaba howitzer to accelerate a decent sized sail, up to 50% of the charge's energy might be converted to projectile velocity. That means that 0.02-0.03 C projectiles are probably viable

Well. That's fucking retarded.

The whole idea of nukes and rifles probably seem very retarded to a caveman

Thanks for playing, dumb fuck.

Likely not practical for use as a weapon, but practical for producing a pulse of thrust to power spacecraft.

Such a craft could theoretically reach Mars in 90 days according to NASA.
