What the fuck is a prion? How is it different from a virus?

a prion is a piece of protein that forces other proteins to conform to the prion's structure. a virus is a package of DNA/RNA that hacks into the reproduction mechanism of a cell to create more virii. virii are fragile and sophisticated compared to prions. prions are sci-fi horror level indestructible. they survive heat up to 1200 Fahrenheit. there's even a hypothesis that certain neurodegenerative diseases like alzheimers et al are prion diseases spread by surgery e.g. dentistry, since the usual sterilization does jack shit to prions.

they'd need some counter prion shit thing isn't it? like some designed prion to disable the harmful ones? or make them fold differently?
are they like on a lower energy state or something along those lines? like does it require energy input to make them fold to some harmless form or can any other similarly "special" construct can make them fold differently on contact?
how can I solve this shit? what do I study? fuck'em

the scary thing is that i dont think there is any known counter to it
thats why mad cow disease was such a big deal

Just design your body to not use proteins which can fold into prions.

It was overblown by government as an excuse to create more regulations, all cows are now registered in some country's, bloat, bureaucrats, and power.
MCD started because a few shit farmers were feeding dead cow to cows. Obviously stupid.

How do it force the other proteins to do this?

Its a protein that is not only misshapen but also in such a way that it will cause more proteins to be formed in its image. Those proteins may fail to fulfill at least one of its functions.
It's got no DNA.
You could have just searched the web. Why didn't you? Instead you made a thread like 'what is a plant? '.
