Secret collaboration is the secret to excellence.

This is why Manhattan project beat Apollo project. There was no hype about Manhattan. But infinite hype about Apollo. Look where we are now. All the dumb dumb stagnated space. Were are nuclear weapons are still operational.

The Manhattan Project gathered up a bunch of top minds and insulated them from the constant noise of modern society, taking care of all the mundane distractions that waste the time and brain power of the greatest minds. No one had to worry about paying the electric bill, whether or not there were the correct number of various skin shades distributed throughout the city bus, or who was running for mayor. Those working on the project had all their needs accounted for so they could focus on the task at hand and in their off time could relax instead of having their energy sapped by someone trying to get them involved in a protest of the timing of the traffic lights on the edge of town.
The community was full of hobby clubs whose members were also top minds. No dealing with attention whoring normies coming in causing trouble because they're there for reasons other than playing violin, building a race car, or discussing the actual book the club agreed to read.
