Exposure is always positive as it creates familiarity.
Negative exposure can be flipped to having been a smearing campaign and now this is the real deal. What is needed. The conviction of this is easier with a prior relation to the person in question compared with a litteral who coming with the same or better arguments.

mathematics has become a self-referential exploration game instead of a tool to solve problems. it's the same dilemma that companies have when they develop a bunch of technology and don't know how to market it to make profits. they just make up problems instead of solving existing ones. mathematics is the same principle. the pursuit of generality at the expense of abstraction destroyed the problem solving mind.
