suppose x=/=x
then there must be a non-zero y for which: x+y=x
by rearranging that equality, we get y=0
but this contradicts with y being non-zero
so x=x

Such a proof is trivial. If x is not x and x is a real number than there exists y which represents the distance between x and x, and that y ought to be 0, since x is x. []

When I was in 7th grade, a math tutor or tester gave me a one-on-one math test, and one of the questions he asked me to answer was: "x = ?"
I said, that I didn't know, what x is equal to.
After a while, he wrote "x" after the "=" and said, that x is equal to x.
I thought, that the question was unfair or not good.
