Microdiscectomy failed and disc replacement caused FBSS. Does it ever become ethical to relieve life destroying back pain by breaking the person's spine and making them a paraplegic? The penis is already numb and cannot be used by breaking the spine we remove all pain and give the person a pain free life in a wheelchair?

That would only be ethical if all other options were tried first.
There are major advances going on in both laproscopic surgery and disc reconstruction that would indicate trying other options before deleting the patient's lower limbs.

Personally I didn't develop FBSS, but electrical stimulation and physiotherapy worked wonders post surg for me.
