hey, woman here.

my theory has always been that sexualized women in media seem to not mind being sexualized, but the same can’t be said for women in real life. most women don’t want those things that are shown in sexual media, and if they do it’s within a deep and committed relationship.

sexualization of women in media is, obviously, made especially for the straight male fantasy, and i guess some guys tend to get aggressive when every woman doesn’t act like the ones in the media he consumes. that’s why it’s important to be able to discern real life from fiction, as well as emotional regulation.

it really all boils down to a lack of self-control, and that’s easily repairable by having just a bit of mental strength. i hope this proved useful!!!!

The UN literally says Fictional character sexualized = rape. And if it were a question of self control, I trust they would direct the response to teach self control to the low iq rapists or give a sense of belonging to lone wolves. Yet that's not what's happening, the recommendation is "Ban all sexualized characters, then no rape".

They must have correlated fictional characters with rape somehow but I don't get the relationship yet.

ah, fair. i’m curious, though, how many studies have been conducted with men having full access vs no access to this kind of media, and how it differs with violence/assault rates. i did mention self control but not sure how “innate” or “learned” that kind of self control can be. i wonder how the UN came to that conclusion in the first place.

also, an important thing to note: porn has an addictive effect similar to hard drugs, so dedicated hardcore watchers might have their reality distorted by seeing so many women seemingly “enjoying” depraved acts (that almost no women truly enjoy). the worse the content viewed, the further the viewer spirals into delusion as they get desensitized. just my two cents though.

perhaps it’s not simply the sexualization, but the degree of it as well. it’s an interesting thing to think about.

anyways, nowhere did i say it was JUST men. yes, my argument did talk mostly about the male experience with porn content, but i think women can ABSOLUTELY have the same problems. i think some of the media that women consume is also absolutely disgusting and shouldn’t be tolerated either. the stuff i see women talk about in popular smut books makes me want to vomit, and by your glowing examples in your reply i can see that there’s a whole new world of things i do NOT want to know about.

women also can be attackers and predators due to circumstances *such as* porn addiction, and are also prone to delusion through the content we consume. it’s not a male-specific problem. whether it’s videos, photos, or books, porn is a detriment to the brains of both genders and regulating it for BOTH genders is a good idea to reduce violence and abuse. rapists and assaulters aren’t all one gender.

I think there are studies which suggest a negative correlation between porn availability and violence and abuse in real life. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it should be banned. Also porn addiction isn't a thing.

My take is that the whole point of porn is to objectify the body. When the mind is trained, consciously or not, to see the body as a mere sexual object, consideration for the other person becomes secondary, or pushed out even further. Sense of respect is lost because porn is instant gratification, you lose patience when you want immediate sex when it comes to a real world persons. Even in hentai, its a fantasy that's lived. When those thoughts are in your mind throughout the day, it's not a stretch to see women in the same sexual light. See it as a doorway, so to speak. (Not the only doorway btw...). Anyhow that's my take. Men are more sexually driven than emotionally, and the psychological to physical impact on that varies. Practicing self control can go a looong way.
