I have a layman intuition that if you take away one mathematical proof or add another it doesn't make a difference. math is so vast and uncoordinated. there are innumerable branches and their subbranches full of conflicting opinions, inconsequential problems and solutions that get forgotten, that's if someone once noticed them.

makes me wonder what's all this for. who can say that it is moving forward to something great and complete? it only appears to get more and more fragmented.
