You cannot see Mercury or Venus at night from Earth's "back side" under normal astronomical conditions. They are only visible near dawn or dusk because of their proximity to the Sun in the sky. If someone claims to see an inner planet high in the night sky, they are likely mistaken (possibly seeing a bright star, Jupiter, or another object).
