this is tangential to manipulating fields to achieve a specific interaction. most of our interactions with matter is governed by the electromagnetic force. if that's the case, is there a way to bypass the need for matter to generate the interactions by generating fields and arranging their coherence/decoherence in such a way that it leads to an equivalent behavior but with far less mass involved?

basically, could fields be manipulated from a fundamental source generator to form something that is logically equivalent to what occurs when matter is formed into assemblies, thereby generating similar mechanics and dynamics? like instead of creating an impeller, can you just generate a field that can push against matter with a normal force? instead of needing form it from some element, you just configure your field generator to produce contours in its coherence to act like an impeller.
