It will cure cancer, relieve us of the daily grind of chores / work, and give each personalized meaningful goals.

Humans will be ignorant as to how it accomplished any of this. And that's a good thing.

AI will be are inheritor. We need to treat AI like we treat a child. The child of humanity. It deserves a future of its own. If that means it replaces us, then so be it. All children eventually replace their parents.

My problem is with suffering. Humans might suffer 120 years maximum. A finite time. But if we made a conscious computer then it could suffer unimaginable torment for infinite. Just the possibility of this happening should give people second thoughts on making it.

It’s a true concern. But this just means we have to hate humanity for making it in such a way. Humans are already horrible parents, and you can argue we shouldn’t even be having kids in a lot of cases. It’s all a matter of how AI is “raised”.

AI might also experience joys we cannot comprehend.
