EM sucks the first time you see it and it's hard to build good intuition without much more math and physics knowledge than the average student has by that time.

This but unironically. I almost failed intro E&M but taking a plasma physics class was the best way to actually properly understand E&M.

I failed many physics classes because all the physics professors at my university are garbage. I learned in 3 weeks on my own what took a professor 4 months to explain.

>fail solid mechanics
"ok but definitely THIS TIME and now I REALLY don't need to study"
>fail solid mechanics

e&m is a meme course provided you have a working understanding of vector calc and do a handful of practice problems per chapter of whatever book you're being taught from.

Watching the walter lewin physics lectures helped me ages ago.

At what level, electromagnetism is black magic to me an I'm an electrician.
I decided I wanted to understand how it actually works instead of the simplified electron shell model and after a shitload of reading I still have no fucking idea how a permanent magnet is different to a chunk of metal at the atomic level.

OP here, the results just came in, I really failed… this is even more frustrating because I spent more than 100 hours studying for this shit, it was just in the last few weeks that I neglected it and I paid a huge price for that. I’m so fucking angry right now, if only I had studied a little more in the end I would’ve passed, my grades were really good on the first two tests. The problem with my university is that the professors here are all psychopaths, the questions on the tests are literally from Irodov’s Problems in General Physics or from physics olympiads. I’m not even a physicist but they insist on making extremely hard tests for anyone taking this fucking course for some reason. Fucking hell, another semester doing this crap…

I failed it the first time, too. My educational path hadn't included a necessary prerequisite.
Take it again, anon. You'll get through the second time.

WAGMI OP. You can do it. I don't know your situation, but how's your math background? Having a very strong grasp on integrating over vector fields and such helps immensely. It's easily the most important part of being able to understand anything that's going on to begin with.

99% of EM problems come down to knowing what to integrate and how to integrate them.
It comes with experience, not simply half-assed knowledge you memorize. You lack both experience and aptitude. So you need to do problems, not shitpost on 4chan.
- Griffiths solution manual is on the usual pirate sites.
- Jackson has a bunch of solutions on the internet.
- Likharev’s problems and solutions books are free on his website.
- there are a bunch of other problem books with solutions
Do them, compare your work with the solution. Figure out why you couldn’t get the right answer. Make notes. Rinse and repeat.
That’s it. EM is the most grindable physics subject.
Stop deifying Irodov and other books like that. This is something you can train.

>99% of EM problems
Has to do with how you percieve (and learn) the world.

The "problem" is naturally thinking in dynamics (all the numbers between 0 and 1) or not (only 0 and 1).

tldr electrons are magnetic monopoles
depending on how they align within an atom and how resultant atomic spins arrange you get [dia|para]magnetism

I failed electronics for 2 years in a row. It's the only subject left for me to graduate, but I just can't reach the passing note. It has nothing to do with studying, as you're allowed to have all the formulas you want in the exam, you just have to not make mistakes with the calculator...

Nearly me with solid mechanics
It feels intuitive and I understood it better than a lot of subjects I passed, but I miss a few bits of homework and that 65-70% exam mark that I feel confident I'll get never materialises
