see figures 2 & 3 in the paper. first, figure 3: recognize that the "dots" you see are actually bands, and the band width corresponds with the dot size. now turn your attention toward figure 2, specifically the labels P1 & P1 indicating that only one slit is being passed through (same as observer effect). the singular band, consistent with single slit interference, is as wide as the accumulation of all the dots in the double slit interference pattern. in effect, i've taken the liberty of fixing your retarded graphic.
