What’s the point of going to engineering school? It would take me two years to get an associates degrees then another 2 years to get a bachelor’s degree. And after that I will start to see money after hopefully landing a gig. This all seems like to much work with a very questionable payoff.

Who uses these subjects in the real world outside of government and universities?

Tech is overwhelmingly competitive. And there are layoffs.

My friend has a degree in engineering from UTD he can’t find a job and living with his parents. He got layed off and can’t find a job. With a degree from a top ranked university.

I’m just doing trades bro. I’ll buy my tools and work with my hands for money. College seems like an absolute waste of time

I swear to god, everyone who says this shit either works a generic serivce job that any 10 year old could do, or is an (aspiring) youtuber.

You can pursue paid industry internships and academic research assistantships while in school

Bachelor of engineering is basically a trades diploma. 95% applied stuff. Maths and physics are dumbed down for engies to understand it.

It's actually obscene how much they dumb it down. A bright middle schooler outside of America is more adept than the average engineering grad.

There may be some truth in what you guys are saying I was explaining to him how gps satellites work and he didn’t even understand waves or how to measure them or the properties or characteristics of a wave. It was almost like I was speaking a foreign language. I never finished college and it seems I’m more educated than someone who has an actual degree and should know this stuff. I was confused by his muted responses his explanation was he was a c student. Idk, if what you mentioned is really true. That kinda reinforces my belief that attending college is a waste at this point of my life.

The high paying jobs are just ridiculously competitive anyways. Might as well use my hands and fix shit. I have experience as a mechanic. But I don’t like the industry. Maybe I’ll try maintenance. Working on hvac systems and commercial equipment.

What are the real prospects and experiences of business graduates?

Consulting. However with a business degree you can literally go to any corporation and get hired as a salaried manager.

The pay is not the best but isn’t the worst. 60k a year doesn’t seem bad to start off.

Yes like an assistant manager at Walmart. Or any other major corp like that.

Consulting just consists of subject matter experts (supposedly) that advise the customer the appropriate way to execute a business strategy.

Usually they know how a given specialized area of business works so that knowledge translates into value for someone that isn’t experienced or knowledgeable about whatever you’re trying to get consulting for.

Example

Business consulting
Financial consulting
Security consulting

Well that explains why he can't find a job. The people who complain about being unable to find work are almost always completely inept. Same goes for people getting laid off. The reality is that, as you say, a degree will be useless if you want to learn things, but if you're halfway competent, then it will make it very easy to get a decent-paying job.
Anyway, if you like (insert engineering field), then you're far better off going into a related trade. Most engineering jobs are mindless spreadsheet monkeying, and pay only slightly better at the cost of college debt.

More like glossed over. Things that come from calculus are magically made into basic algebra and derivations is never brought up again.

went to school for engineering, realized it was just math tables and making someone else's dream. Industrial design is closer to what I thought engineering was but my school doesn't have that major so I switched to applied physics for the knowledge
college from 2016-till now is a way for gen z to avoid the hell scape that is the dead economy we're living in

I go to a southwestern state university not in California.
Outside of my deeper physics classes it was all about rote memorization. That's not me being retarded that's quite literally how the curriculum provided the info to me. Everything was college board-ified, questions out of a test bank type shit.
