If astrophysicists can call oxygen a metal, then I get to call water an organic salt, and ice is a mineral.

Ice is a mineral by any definition. Water being an organic salt is pushing it.

All known life also utilizes inorganic compounds (no C) in their essential life biology and chemistry functions. Additionally, "organic" compounds can be created completely naturally through inorganic non-biological processes.

In astrophysics nomenclature, any element heavier than helium is a metal. "Metal" here essentially meaning the element had to have originated from within a star rather than being a primordial element in the early universe.
