I want to attend college for mechanical engineering. I want to attend community college to save some money. My local community college offers Mechanical Engineering Technology (A.A.S.). Is this the same as mechanical engineering? Would it be a waste of my time to pursue this associates degree? What should I do instead? I can learn math relatively easily compared to most people, and I enjoy studying it. If I like math, what should I study? I specifically don't want to spend too much money on education. I know people in STEM tend to get paid pretty well, but I'm still uncertain.

You’re fucked. And don’t do strange degrees.

Why? I'm also considering their Mathematics (A.S.) degree, but a lot of the curriculum is surrounding English, Communication, and Public Speaking. Very little math and no other formal science, like logic or statistics, involved. Do I really need to go to university instead of community college and spend more on classes?

Probably no. Check curriculum.
